Pecan Store Remains Open to the Public During Construction
SAHUARITA, Ariz. – After nearly two years of planning, Green Valley Pecan Company recently broke ground on the construction of a refrigerated warehouse. This new facility, located near the current processing plant and the Pecan Store, is scheduled to be completed by late January 2019. BFL Construction Company, out of Tucson, was selected as the contractor for this project.
The building will consist of a 40,000 square foot refrigerated warehouse, with the capability to also be used as a freezer. Nearly 6,000 square feet of the building space will be used as truck docks, office space, and utility rooms. The facility will also house processing equipment that will enhance food safety, quality, and traceability to ensure a safe, high-quality product for customers.
“Green Valley Pecan Company is preparing for future growth with the construction of this warehouse,” said Scott Spicer, Project Manager at Green Valley Pecan Company. “The structure will have over a 50-year life span, signaling our commitment to the community, this industry, and our customers.”
The Pecan Store will remain open and hold regular store hours during all construction activity. Detour signs on the property will direct customers to the temporary parking lot.
