(SAHUARITA, Ariz.) FICO has entered into an agreement to sell its assets, including its pecan orchards in Sahuarita, Continental, and San Simon, to a consortium of pecan growers. This transaction ensures the FICO orchards will remain in pecan production for the foreseeable future and continue building on the FICO legacy.

“We feel that the buyers of our farm will continue to be outstanding stewards of the land resources and will continue to grow high-quality pecans”, said Brian Driscoll, FICO President and CEO.

A spokesperson for the purchasing group added: “FICO has been a pillar of Sahuarita, Green Valley, and San Simon for decades, and we’re proud to be joining these communities as growers, neighbors, and caretakers of this land. We know how rare orchards like these are, and how much of that is owed to the people who have tended them. We look forward to getting to know them and to continuing the tradition of stewardship FICO has long upheld.”

Because the sale is structured as a transfer of assets rather than of the company, employees’ formal employment with FICO will conclude at closing. FICO informed its employees of this and emphasized that it is a routine feature of transactions structured in this way. FICO has offered a severance package to those who stay through the transition and understands that the purchaser anticipates retaining a majority of the current workforce.

The sale is expected to close in the coming months, at which time additional details, including information about the purchaser, will be shared.
